How Clogged Gutters Can Damage Your House?

Gutters are an important part of your home to keep the environment clean and dry. The gutter system and roof require periodic cleaning to keep water free flowing from top to the ground. They collect leaves, dirt, debris, and birds prepare a nest in the free space throughout the year, which is why many people clean them out at the beginning of every spring and again at the end of the fall.

Avoid climbing the ladder to monitor and clean the gutters that can be dangerous to your living. If the gutters remain clogged for a long time it can cause water damage and soil erosion.

When gutters get clogged and fill with saturated rainwater, the roof, wood can rot. It can cause water to overflow out of the gutter system and down the sides of the home. Gutters need regular cleaning or maintenance to prevent water damage.

When gutters are clogged, they fill with water and it starts to back up. This water and the debris can weigh heavy on the gutter system leading it to collapse. It creates gaps in the gutter system that lets the water run from the roof and penetrate inside. Clogged gutters can damage the home foundation, property, and surroundings.

Due to water saturation on the roof, water spills over the side, it often lands on flower beds, small trees or shrubs that surround the base of a home. This water can cause basement flooding and the erosion can  weaken your home and roof which can lead to roof crack and begins to leak.

Due to excess saturation of water in the rainy season, the basement begins to flood then it can damage the carpet, furniture, electronics, and other property. Clogged gutters can cause leaks, flooding and mold that can crack the walls and ceilings.

The water penetration and saturation on the roof, mold can grow within your walls, carpet, flooring and leads to water leaks into the house and basement. Cleaning and removing the mold from the roof and walls can be very expensive and time-consuming.

The foundation supports the entire structure of your home. So must be maintained and cleaning on time to avoid structural and architectural damage. Excess water contact here can cause your foundation to leak, shift, crack or even sink.

Clean gutters and downspouts carry water away from your home and foundation to the ground or safe drainage system. Your landscaping also suffers when this excess water falls on trees, plants and flowers.

Clogged gutters cause water to overflow, often penetrating siding and foundations. The resulting mold can be a major health hazard to your family. So gutter system and roof must be regularly cleaned that helps to extend the life of gutters.
